📖 Today, we honor Simone de Beauvoir (1908-1986), a French philosopher, writer, and feminist activist whose ideas changed the way society understands gender and oppression.
Her most influential book, "The Second Sex" (1949), examined the ways in which women have been historically marginalized and argued that gender is socially constructed. This groundbreaking work laid the foundation for modern feminism and inspired movements for women’s rights worldwide.
A close intellectual partner of existentialist philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, de Beauvoir challenged traditional roles and championed freedom, independence, and equality for women. Her legacy continues to shape contemporary feminist thought.
