The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program prevents homelessness by helping very low-income Veterans and their families gain access to the resources they need in order to successfully transition to, or maintain, permanent housing.

  • Personal Financial Planning Services
  • Healthcare Navigation
  • Assistance obtaining VA and other public benefits
  • Legal Services through Touro College Jacob D. Fuchberg Law Center
  • Other supportive services/temporary financial assistance

Temporary financial assistance may include:

  • Rental Assistance
  • Security or Utility Deposit
  • Utility-fee Payment
  • Moving Cost
  • General Housing Stability Assistance
  • Emergency Housing Assistance
  • Child Care Assistance
  • Transportation

The goal of the SSVF program is to provide veterans with the resources and support needed to achieve long-term housing stability and self-sufficiency.

Meet Mr. Martin Wirth, a proud US Air Force Veteran whose resilience shines brightly.

After the heartbreaking loss of his wife to COVID-19, Martin faced mounting rent struggles despite his best efforts and steady income from Social Security and a pension.

With the help of SSVF, Martin conquered his rent arrears and secured a HUD VASH voucher, allowing him to move into permanent housing. His journey from hardship to stability is a testament to his unwavering spirit and determination, inspiring us all with his courage and perseverance.
